My work is based on two main goals: (1) building strong evidence-based environmental policy to leave the legacy of an intact environment for future generations; and (2) advocating for Indigenous nations and leaders to further Indigenous inherent rights to traditional lands, waters and resources. I have been an independent consultant since 2009 for Indigenous and environmental clientele. My consulting work on environmental, water and oceans governance, Indigenous governance, Indigenous rights, and public policy includes:
- Policy reports writing and research
- Water, marine, climate, and energy policy
- Research interviews and qualitative data analysis
- Outreach and engagement
- Policy and environmental frameworks
- Researching, formulating and writing academic publications
I completed a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Environment, Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, Canada. My research applied the lens of Indigenous governance scholarship to examine modern-day governance of coastal marine fisheries. This empirical study built upon the research in my Ph.D. in Social & Ecological Sustainability (University of Waterloo, Ontario) which focused on collaborative environmental governance and Indigenous governance.
